Newport Seafood Restaurant in San Gabriel, CA, is a culinary treasure for seafood lovers. The star of the menu, the House Special Lobster with noodles, is an absolute delight. The succulent lobster, perfectly seasoned and served on a bed of flavorful noodles, is an unforgettable experience. The Kong Pao Chicken, with its crispy yet tender pieces of chicken in a slightly sweet, savory sauce is a standout dish, while the beef loc lac, featuring savory, marinated beef cubes, is both rich and satisfying. The service is impeccable, with attentive staff who ensure a seamless dining experience. Whether you're dining solo or with a large party, Newport Seafood excels at accommodating groups, making it an ideal spot for celebrations and gatherings.

We have eaten here several times and it has quickly became one of our favorite spots. We order a lobster, the french style beef, and the fried sole. The fried sole is fried whole and it is perfect every time. The french style beef is in the top three versions of this dish that we have ever had. Lobster here is very good as well. We usually get a reservation, service is OK, food comes out fast. Parking is a bitch, we usually park across the street and the past weekend we actually parked at the Japanese supermarket across the street as there was no available parking on the street. It is a great place, all kinds of people from a gentleman with his lady on a date, to all sizes of families. It is so nice to see the large families at the big round tables. Sometimes there are four or even five generations enjoying the family dinner. We will continue to enjoy this place when we come to San Gabriel.

Overall rating: 4.5/5 Wait: 4.5/5 Arrival time: Sunday 1pm Food: 5/5 Order: salt and pepper lobster, shrimp with walnut, beef loc lac Service: 4.5/5 Price: 4/5 Definitely coming back Newport Seafood is the quintessential gem of San Gabriel, a place where the salt and pepper lobster reigns supreme and each bite is a celebration of flavor. On a bustling Sunday afternoon, the wait was a mere formality, a prelude to the culinary symphony that awaited. The shrimp with walnut was a masterful blend of texture and taste, while the beef loc lac was a tender marvel, each dish outshining the last. Service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, ensuring a seamless dining experience. The price, a modest toll for the quality received, only solidifies Newport Seafood as a must-visit destination. This is not just a meal; it's a tradition in the making, and I am already planning my next visit. Newport Seafood, you've earned your stars, and my return is guaranteed.

My family and I have been coming here for years! Definitely on special occasions though. There wait times can be crazy, there's always a wait here! They even offer valet in their own parking lot. As said by the front desk of the restaurant, valet is technically free and you just pay how much you want to tip, as said by the front desk of the restaurant. The moment you walk in, make sure to put your name down on the waitlist. You'll even see a framed photo of Michelle Yeoh in the lobby haha. Once we were seated, service here was extremely fast! The waiters here are your typical chinese uncles that seem impatient but are really efficient with their work. The moment you sit down, they take your order, and then your food arrives extremely quickly. We ordered a variety of dishes, and of course the main star, the Lobster. A lot of the entrees were really good here, although I wish the lobster was meatier. A lot of the dishes are heavily garnished, so it is packed with flavor! We brought our own wine but they also charged for opening the wine in the restaraunt. Overall, the meal was definitely really good! The space is clean and full of large party tables, very family friendly. Service is really quick and efficient here, although, they could be nicer, but it seems like your ol' traditional Chinese-run restaurant. A staple in 626!

Great food every time, and a great lunch family deal with plenty of food left to take home. In the dining area, there are large lazy Susan style tables, but they also have private rooms/ spaces available. The dining area has nice Chinese style decor. I especially like the entrance with all the Chinese lanterns and the yellow lilipad style accent wall on the hallway leading to the restrooms. A reservation is recommended, especially for larger groups, to avoid the long wait. It's usually very busy during the lunch hour and again during dinner. The servers are very quick with taking your order and bringing the food. Usually, it's great quick service, but they don't make you feel rushed... but the faster you finish, the faster they can serve the next group. At the entrance, there are large live crabs and lobsters that you can choose from. Plenty of parking available.

5 STARS for their new iced tapioca dessert -- with red beans, almond jello (I think) and mini ice cubes -- so unique and refreshing after a heavy lobster meal. Chinese restaurants aren't known for their desserts, so anything more than orange slices is newsworthy and instagram-worthy. Highly Recommended! :-P

Newport Seafood Restaurant or Tan Cang is a Chinese Vietnamese seafood restaurant. Seafood can be expensive but they have competitive lunch specials daily from 11am-3pm. Valet parking or scarce street parking. I came here with my boyfriend for a late lunch. and we were lucky there was no wait when we arrived. The table was a little weird where I felt really far across from him, but there was plenty of room for the food. We ordered off the lunch menu and shared a few items. The lunch combo comes with white rice and oranges at the end. Nghieu Xao La Que ($15.50 lunch) - Clams with basil sauce. Very flavorful and that basil taste really comes through in the sauce. A few of my clams were a bit sandy but overall the food was good. Do Chay ($13.50 lunch) - A vegetable deluxe and a nice balance to the other protein dishes. There were all sorts of vegetables in this stir fry. I saw mushrooms, carrots, bokchoy, snap peas, baby corn and a bunch of other vegetables. Ca Chien Don ($15.50 lunch) - Deep fried whole fish. They use the tilapia for their lunch fried fish. Super super crispy. I like the way they cut the fish before deep frying to make it easy to dig into and avoiding the bone. I am an expert fish de-boner so I enjoy whole fish dishes like this. It came with a flavorful ginger sweet and sour fish sauce that paired well with the fried tilapia. Having it on the side saved the fish from getting soggy. I'll be honest there wasn't too many items I wanted from their lunch menu but I enjoyed the items we ordered. Not a bad deal in this economy.
